Who I am

My name is Rozalyn, but most people know me as Miracula, or Mira for short. As well as being an artist, I am a mother of three wonderful and beautiful children with amazing hearts and minds. Two sons and one daughter, they all have developmental delays, the oldest having autism. I am also a very blessed to be mar incredible man and we will soon be celebrating our 13th year of marriage.

I was born in Alaska but raised in the most beautiful place in the World. Puget Sound in Washington State. Out on the western peninsula, is a world full of magic. I spent most of my summers on the beach or in the woods.  I hope to continue to live the rest of my life right here with my family.

I have to give a huge thanks to my mother and husband for their support, but I also have to give special thanks to my guild for their kind words and to the incredible friends I have made along this path. There are just so many who offered and gave their hearts in support with praise and even spreading the word. WIthout you people from Warcraft, Second Life and even at the family get togethers, I would not be doing this today. And of course to God with who all things are possible. "

How I describe my art

"My art work is only a reflection of how I see the world when I close my eyes. It is dramatic. Passionate. Vibrant. Often, I like to show a story but in truth I love to capture a character. Even in an creature or a place, but most specifically a person, fantasy or reality, I desire to capture that personality of the individual. People have told me that my character paintings excel at that and that gives me such joy. When a person says, "Yes, that is so that person." I feel that I have done my job. I try to apply this in everything I do as an artist. My photography and my sculpture, even my writing. The personality, the emotion and the uniqueness of what ever I am working on is most important. While I realized my skill has much growth to do, as I continue to learn and improve, I never want to loose the core of my art. Just like myself, I will never stop trying to improve who I am as a person but I never want to loose who I am."

How I got to where I am today

"Art has been a part of my life since I was very young, although I was never completely dedicated to it. I have always adored fantasy, ever since my first my little pony and my unicorn peechee folder. I loved puppet shows and it was so easy to get lost in another world. I was home schooled most of my childhood and got a high school diploma. During my late teens I attended several airbrushing classes, instructors including, Dru Blair and Jurek. From there I went attended the Northwest College of Art and received my BA in Fine Arts. I spent the summers doing photography in Motocross and Rodeo. I didn't learn so much about art there as I did about life those three years.

After graduating, I was soon married and started having kids. Art was set on the back burner and I only dabbled in it. It was the ability to painting digitally that made it possible for me to continue art. Role-playing, writing and more recently, gaming gave me the inspiration to make my creations.

After the introduction to World of Warcraft almost 6 years ago, my art took a huge leap as I started to really see fantasy art become an accepted subject and digital painting an accepted medium. I pursued the study of art on my own. Youtube and online resources like renderosity, deviantart allowed me to take my ideas and begin to really improve.

I still enjoy doing digital work especially since it allows for so much flexibility. However, I very much enjoy working with real medium. Airbrushing I use as a great tool because it allows for a variety of applications, t-shirts, canvas, helmets, cars, and sculptures. Sculpting is also something I really enjoy. I hope to be able to do more of that even if it is only for my own enjoyment.
